A Happy Holiday - overall

I'm really enjoying summer; hot weather, holidays, beach and
beautiful summer outfits. I got this DKNY fabric in Fabric
shop on Brunswick st very very very cheap. I promised to my self
that don't buy a cheap fabric but I couldn't resist to buy this
one. Because I was thinking to make my first overall for this summer
and this fabric was perfect for the experiment. My husband called
it circus clown costume, actually I liked that name and enjoy wearing it.

 Galaxy Print Dress

This astro Galaxy silk fabric was captured my eye
immediately at Tessuti. So I couldn't resist and bought
a metre. When I come home my daughter liked it a lot and
a few days later went to Tessuti to buy more of this,
it was sold out. I knew, everyone see this can't resist it.
I made a pattern raglan sleeve with pleated shoulder for
something different. Also I used a plain grey silk fabric
for sleeves.

Printed Pants

You know the printed pants is latest trend now on the street.
I was looking for structured print pants fabric since then
and I found it of course in Tessuti. It is double woven
cotton, I think the price was reasonable but don't remember
exactly how much. Anyway for me a metre fabric is plenty
enough for the pants. I used same old my favorite McCall
pattern M6403. I experimented this geometric pattern
mix with floral top. Everybody liked this combination
except my husband. I think I need update
my husbands fashion sense!!!!!

Ruddy Pink and Apricot Grey

Recently, I bought this Stuart Weitzman shoes from Amazon
and when I saw the online the colour was more vivid, brighter
but when I've got the shoe the colour wasn't I expected one.
That is bad side of the online shopping. Anyway, the shape
and comfiness is great and the hill so sexy. Then I  decided to
keep it and make an outfit for this shoes. For top fabric is philosophy
jersey from Tessuti, the skirt is silk linen fabric from Rathdown and
the jacket woven fabric from Mad Fabric. I love the jacket colour
at once I saw it and it was $5 a metre, can you believe it!!!

Tessuti Award - 2012

This morning I found out that I'm the winner of Tessuti Award.
I still can't believe I'm the winner (pinching myself if it's true)
yet I'm so happy. Thanks to everybody who were supporting and
encouraging me through this amazing, joyful journey.

Weekend Inspiration

I went to NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) last weekend.
I had been NGV many times before but I didn't know there is Asian
collection area. I really enjoyed to see this Japanese collections
and I think they are the sublime craftsmanship. If you haven't
been there I strongly recommend to see it. I'm sure you will
enjoy it too.

Brocade and Brocade

I made this brocade dress for the spring race, although
I don't go to the race. When I saw this brocade fabric I
thought  it could be a nice spring race dress. Brocade
and gold thread was a big trend running through last
season, designers like Dries Van Noten, Marni,
Marchesa and Proenza & Schouler.

BBC - Hidden Treasure of Indian Textile Art

An origin and history of textiles always fascinates me. I found
this documentary from my favourite canal on youtube. On this
documentary Griff Rhys Jones (a Welsh comedian, actor and
writer) in his quest to find out if traditional art still thrives
among the indigenous people of the world and he goes to
India in search of exquisite textiles. It was worth watching and
gave me an interesting grasp of traditional Indian textile art.
Hope you enjoy it too!!!

Del Kathryn Barton - The Nightingale and the Rose

I heard a lot about Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton who won
Archibald prize 2009 (Australian most prestigious art award).
I really adore her art work and recentlyI saw her new book inspired
by Oscar Wild classic story The Nightingale and the Rose. Her
exaggerated aesthetic and exceptional detailed work has given a
contemporary feel to a classic fairytale. Del Kathryn Barton was
teamed up with Romance was Born designers Garden of Eden
collection in 2008. Definitely I'm going to have this book and
also find out she is going to have an exhibition in Heide
Museum of Modern Art on November. Can't wait to see
her original works.

Polka Dot - Lime Green to Tessuti Award

She is my lovely daughter Anushka modelling for the
dress I made her and for the Tessuti Award. This summer's
trend of fluro inspired me to use lime green contrasting
with polka dot. She loves French style and chic look, so
I created this design for her taste. Anushka loves the dress
and I am so happy. If you like the dress please follow the
link to vote for my design.
Thanks!
